AUTHOR, MARKETING PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

Formerly 26 years on the Massillon Museum staff and currently Massillon Museum public relations coordinator. She has been leading history walking tours since 1984 of historic Fourth Street, Massillon Cemetery and historic downtown Massillon.
 

She is the volunteer chairwoman of the museum’s successful monthly Brown Bag Lunch series and a volunteer for its “Faces of Rural America” project and “The Big Read” project. She has served as editor of the Massillon Area Chamber of Commerce newsletter since 1984, served as chairwoman in 2007 and will return to the board in 2011. She serves on the board of the Massillon Public Library, City of Massillon Historic Preservation Commission, Charity School of Kendal Foundation board of trustees, and the Quarter Committee (Massillon arts district). She is co-chairing the dedication of Massillon’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial Viaduct and the plaque project to honor Massillon men who lost their lives in Vietnam.

Mandy Altimus Stahl

Mandy Altimus Stahl graduated from Kent State University with a BA in history, summa cum laude with honors. She works as the Archivist at the Massillon Museum. Stahl has produced several documentary films for the Museum and has presented at museum conferences across the State of Ohio.  As a part of the Museum’s Speaker’s Bureau, Stahl has an extensive list of lectures available. Since 2012, she has traveled across Ohio to deliver her lecture on the sinking of the Titanic more than 50 times. Stahl serves on the Massillon Historic Preservation Commission and serves as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Charity Rotch School of Kendal Foundation Board.

 

She has published several books including Early Massillon & Lost Kendal (2017), A Long Time Ago: The Fairytales of Mandy Altimus Pond (2014), and the World War II memoirs of her grandfather Major John J. Mohn, Forced March: From the Bulge to Berchtesgaden (2015).

She was proud to have appeared on the Travel Channel’s show “Mysteries at the Museum” in Season 8 (2015), retelling the tale of Jacob Coxey’s 1894 protest march from Massillon, Ohio, to Washington D.C.

 

Stahl owns her own photography business in Massillon, Altimus Stahl Photography. In her spare time she sings with her singer-songwriter husband Bryan Stahl.
